2020: What An epic Year!
While COVID-19 impacted foster and adoptive families in our community, it did not at all dampen or diminish our service to them. In fact, 2020 brought numerous new programs and a comparable number of children and families served compared to the prior year!
what we accomplished
We issued our first Adoption Grant. Congratulations Robinson Family! We can not wait until Wes is finally in your arms.
We hosted two Connection Events including one where we had a trauma therapist present to answer questions.
We now have three volunteer Tutors and one student who has grown two grade levels in reading this year thanks to the help of our program.
We provided 50 home-made frozen meals and numerous restaurant gift cards.
We coordinated volunteers to make and deliver Summer Fun Baskets to about 79 children as a way to provide fun during the summer COVID-19 lockdown.
We sponsored a Back to School drive and gave out over 30 backpacks filled with school supplies and gift cards.
We worked with York County DSS and The Santa’s Helper program to provide Christmas to every child in York County (over 130 children total) and gained many community partnerships through this program.
We continued to serve families through the York County Foster Closet. We filled at least 87 appointments and worked with over 131 foster/adopted children this year at the Foster Closet.
exciting plans for 2021!
It’s a New Year and we are off to a great start. The volunteers at York County Foster Closet has been busy serving families and thanks to a matching donor and the generosity of our community we were able to hand out two Adoption Grants this month. We can’t wait to share about these amazing families when their adoptions are finalized.
